It is not new for Chinese shoe and apparel brands to get involved in coffee, tea, and even catering products and services. Earlier, some luxury fashion brands tried to sell coffee drinks in the store.

According to the information on China Trademark Network, Xtep (China) Co., Ltd. recently applied for the registration of 3 "TE coffee" and 3 "XTEP COFFEE" trademarks.

A relevant person from Xtep's marketing department revealed that currently only the flagship store on Chunxi Road in Chengdu City is planned to be opened as a pilot. It will be located on the second floor of the store on Chunxi Road and will provide a variety of coffee and tea.

Xtep is not the first sports shoes and clothing brand to sell coffee.

Summer was the peak season for body-building with 104.24 million active users using sports & fitness mobile apps in China. On average, a user used sports & fitness apps 3.05 times a day and spent 20.17 minutes on it in June 2018. Body-building was more appealing to users from top-tier cities and those with mid-level to high purchasing power.

Morning (6:00 - 9:00) and evening (17:00 - 21:00) are two peak hours of body-building in China. On average, users spent 20.17 minutes on sports & fitness apps in June 2018, an increase of 30.8% year-on-year. In addition, they used sports & fitness apps 3.05 times a day, a 20.08% increase from the previous year.

The sports & fitness app users on average installed 1.17 apps in June 2018, a 1.68% decline year-on-year. 86.66% of users tend to install only one sports & fitness app.
