Alibaba is ranked the world’s second most valuable retail brand with a brand value of US$49.30 billion, according to WPP’s new 2016/2017 BrandZ Top 25 Most Valuable global Retail Brands ranking.

Amazon is ranked the most valuable global retail brand with a brand value of US$99 billion in 2016; its brand value has increased by 59% in 2016 compared to a year ago.

Alibaba’s main competitor in online retail JD.com brand value grew by 37% in 2016 and made it the 11th most valuable retail brand in the world.

Double 11 (11 Nov) are not the only online sales promotions in China. Mid-year promotion is also an important campaign for China’s e-commerce platforms such as Tmall and Jingdong.

This year, Tmall brings 300,000 products from 25 countries to Chinese consumers during the promotion. Participating retailers include eight multinational supermarkets and hypermarkets including Costco from U.S., Inferno from Germany, and King Power from Thailand.

Brands without a present in China, who have Tmall Global store, can also join the promotion if selected. Overall, more than 20,000 merchants were selected by Tmall to participate in the mid-year promotion.

Vitacost has started providing direct delivery service to Chinese cross border shoppers with China’s largest logistic company SF Express.

Vitacost mainly sells healthcare products including thousands of vitamins, mineral substance, herbal medicine, supplement, organic food and so on. It has active customers of 2.3 million. Vitacost owns over 800 employees and logistics centers in North Carolina and Nevada.

It is said that the popular American e-commerce websites among China consumers are Vitacost, iHerb, Drugstore and so on. Vitacsot is famous for its discount and wide range of products among cross-border online shoppers in China.

According to Vitacost’s press release, the delivery status with SF express can be tracked during products transportation. The package under 4 pounds charges $10.99 for shipping and the extra pound charges $2.75, which is more convenient than before.

Costco Wholesale also launched Tmall flagship store on Tmall Global reaching Chinese consumers directly with competitively priced food and healthcare products recently in China.

Amazon reduced its shipping charge as well as direct shipping service to cross-border online shoppers in China.
